Privacy Policy
1. General Information
This website is operated by Mirko Guretzky. Protecting your personal data is important to us. Personal data is processed only to the extent necessary to provide a functional website and digital products.
2. Data Collection on This Website
When visiting this website, basic technical data—such as IP address, browser type, and access time—may be automatically collected by the hosting provider for technical and security reasons.
Web Hosting via Hostinger
We use the web hosting service provided by Hostinger for our website. The provider is the Lithuanian company HOSTINGER, UAB, Švitrigailos St. 34, LT-03230 Vilnius, Lithuania.
When you visit our website, Hostinger processes your personal data (e.g., IP address, access times, browser type). This takes place within the framework of data processing on our behalf, ensuring that data is processed only according to our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.
Legal Basis: The use of Hostinger is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, we have a legitimate interest in ensuring the best possible presentation of our website.
Data Processing: Data is processed on servers within the EU (or the European Economic Area). Further information can be found in Hostinger’s privacy policy: https://www.hostinger.de/legal/datenschutz-bestimmungen.
3. "Brief aus Dalarna" Newsletter
You can subscribe to the "Brief aus Dalarna" (Letter from Dalarna) newsletter on our website. The newsletter is generally published once a month and provides updates on the Nordwildnis project, new films, our old log cabin in Sweden, ongoing work, and related stories.
We process your email address for the subscription. Additionally, the time of registration and confirmation, subscription status, and technical verification data may be processed. Processing is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Registration takes place using the double opt-in procedure. After registering, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. Your email address will only be activated for newsletter distribution once this confirmation has been received. This procedure also serves to provide proof of the consent given.
We use Hostinger Reach to manage recipients and send the newsletter. The service provider is the Hostinger entity specified in our contract with Hostinger. Hostinger processes the data on our behalf. Sub-processors may also be engaged in this process. Where data is processed outside the European Economic Area, this is done on the basis of appropriate safeguards, specifically EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Hostinger Reach may process information regarding the delivery and usage of the newsletter, such as delivery status, open rates, clicked links, and unsubscribes. We use this data for the technical provision, analysis, and improvement of the newsletter.
You may revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. To do so, you can use the unsubscribe link found at the end of every email or contact us using the details provided in the legal notice or this privacy policy. The lawfulness of processing carried out prior to the revocation remains unaffected.
In principle, your data is stored until you unsubscribe or revoke your consent. Subsequently, it is removed from the active newsletter distribution list. Data required to prove legally compliant consent may be stored for longer, for as long as potential legal claims exist.
4. Cookies
This website uses a consent management tool provided by the hosting provider Hostinger. Upon their first visit to the website, visitors can determine which optional content or services may be loaded.
The selected settings are saved so that the consent given can be respected during future visits to the website. The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (compliance with legal obligations) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing the website in a legally compliant manner).
5. Embedded Content & External Links
This website may contain links to external platforms such as YouTube or Gumroad. We have no influence over the content or data processing practices of these external services.
Our website embeds videos from YouTube. YouTube is a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
To protect your privacy, videos are embedded using YouTube’s enhanced privacy mode (youtube-nocookie.com). This means that YouTube does not store information about visitors to this website before they actively [interact with] the video.
However, as soon as you start playback, a connection to YouTube's servers is established. In the process, YouTube may collect personal data such as your IP address, technical information about your device and browser, and information regarding your interaction with the video.
If you are simultaneously logged into your YouTube account, YouTube may associate this information with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account before visiting this website.
The use of YouTube serves the purpose of presenting our video content in a visually appealing and technically reliable manner. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
